News Story : Ghost of the Party Could
you keep a promise you made 50 years ago? Well John and Alice De
Parted certainly did - but in the strangest of ways - they returned
long after their death to keep a promise. The story
started in the year 1956 - Pierre and Bridgette were emigrating from
France to New Zealand. The day before they left they attending the
50th birthday party of Pierre 's aunt - Alcéé Uagain.
When Alcéé asked, "When will I see you again?",
Pierre reply, "We promise to come back for your 100th birthday."
Tragically the couple both died when the ship taking them to New
Zealand sank with the loss of one-hundred lives.
The ghosts of Pierre and Bridgette at the 100th birthday party

On the 1st of April 2006 it was Alcéé's 100th birthday - a party was
held for her at the house of her granddaughter Muriel. Alcéé had
long forgotten than promise made in 1956 - but Pierre and Bridgette
had not! No, the ghosts of the couple were seen laughing and dancing
throughout the night - giving Alcéé the best birthday present she
could ever have wished for. When we spoke to Alcéé
she said, "It was such a lovely surprise - at first it nearly
frightened me out of my life but after a short time we all got used
to the couple dancing away amongst us. It's given me such hope - now
I know I will see them again soon. I'm over a hundred you know."
Alcéé - had the best 100th birthday present ever!
