Ghost Story:
I heard this story form a friend of mine who is an Imperial County Sheriff's officer. The year was 1996 in the town of Winterhaven, California, right across the Colorado River from Yuma, Arizona. The time was approximately 1:30 a.m. He said that he heard a call from a sheriff's deputy, via the radio, that he was near the railroad tracks, not too far from where he was, with a report of a young girl walking on the tracks. He decided to head over to the direction that this other officer was located. As he arrived at the location near the railroad tracks, he noticed the officer outside of his vehicle, standing in the direction of the train tracks. After pulling up next to the other patrol car, my friend got out of his vehicle and walked over to the other deputy officer. My friend said that the officer was trying to communicate with a young girl who was walking on the track with some dogs. The young girl was not saying anything to the officer, but just standing there looking down to the ground. My friend said that he then tried to communicate with the girl and she still did not respond to him. He said that they then started to walk toward the young girl when she suddenly looked up. My friend said that he stopped in his tracks and a cold chill went up his spine. He said that the young girl was a young, local Indian girl who had died a week prior walking on the same tracks. She and some friends had been walking on the tracks trying to get to her uncle's house. She was the only one hit and killed by the train. My friend said he just stood there looking at this young girl still on the tracks. He then said that the girl started running with dogs in pursuit of her down the railroad tracks. As quick as she started to run down the tracks, she just vanished. The dogs that were in pursuit of her were left baffled and scared. My friend said that he and the other officer were shocked at what they had just witnessed. They got into their vehicles and left the location. My friend is Native American and he and his family believe in the paranormal. He was so frightened about the incident with the young girl that the family had him go to the local lodge and have him cleansed from the spirits.
