Details of Haunted Place :
Lincoln Theater: The Most Haunted Theatre in America?
Located in Decatur, Illinois, the hometown of Abraham Lincoln, the Lincoln Theater is considered to be one of the most haunted theaters in the entire country. Build in 1916, the theater has seen the likes of Bob Hope and Harry Houdini.
The theater is now closed, but that has not stopped several spirits from returning to a place where they were happy and where they were stars. One spirit is “One-Armed Red”, who many believe was a stagehand in the 1920s. One night while working above the stage, he fell, with his arm getting caught between two beams. His arm was torn off and the next day his body was found laying on the stage. These days, footsteps can be heard walking around where he died and above the stage where he fell from.
Other visitors to the theater have reported hearing footsteps going up the spiral staircase behind the stage. The balcony is a hub of activity with voices, figures and footsteps all being heard by visitors to the theater.
The theater may not be holding performances anymore, but there are those who still walk its corridors and stand upon the stage, hoping that their time to shine will come one day.
