The Most Haunted Home in Australia
The Monte Cristo Homestead is a historic Australian home located in Junee, New South Wales. Built in 1885, it has been featured and movies and television because of its beauty and workmanship. The original owners lived there until 1948, but from 1948 to 1963, it sat empty. Many believe that it sat empty because of the many ghosts said to inhabit the home.

Just some of the many ghost stories about the Monte Cristo Homestead include ghostly figures moving throughout the house, as well as strange lights being seen in rooms. Invisible force fields that prevent people from walking through hallways often spring up, and even phantom sounds are heard. Some have even said they witnessed animal mutilations happening at the home.
It is no surprise given the number of ghosts that this home has a tragic past. In 1961, a caretaker of the property was murdered, and a mentally ill man was kept for many years, imprisoned in the dairy.
When the original owners lived in the home, a young child died falling down the stairs. As well, during that same time period, a maid fell from a balcony and a stable boy was burned to death.
